Words of Wisdom, Words of Jesus

cross-66700_1920Jesus has indeed become wisdom for us! (I Cor. 1:24, 30) If anyone lacks wisdom let him ask of God who gives to all men liberally (James 1:5). Wisdom calls out to us in Proverbs 8:1. Jesus calls out to us in John 12:44. Jesus pursues us through His grace (John 1:16-18).  He waits for us because of His mercy (II Peter 3:15). He is longsuffering toward us, patient, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (II Peter 3:9). Because of His love, He died for us. (Romans 5:8) He died so that we may receive life! For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

Life!
Wisdom calls out to us to find her (Proverbs 8:1), and in finding wisdom, we find life. Wisdom shouts,
“Blessed is the man who listens to me,
Watching daily at my gates,
Waiting at my doorposts.
For he who finds me finds life
And obtains favor from the Lord.
But he who sins against me injures himself;
All those who hate me love death.” (Proverbs 8:34-36)

Eternal Life! Abundant Life!
Jesus, who became wisdom for us, calls out to us to receive life in Him!

“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly!” (John 10:10)

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life…I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.  For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man. Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.” (John 5:24-29)

As we approach Easter at the end of this month, the Proverb of the Day will reflect on Wisdom’s call to life and how to escape death. I can’t wait to share with you how the wisdom statements of Proverbs parallel with the words of Jesus when He walked on this earth!

My prayer for those of us who have found Wisdom and have discovered life in Jesus, is that we will continue to pursue Wisdom, walk in Wisdom, and speak Wisdom into the lives of others. May our purpose be that others will discover life through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who loved us and gave Himself for us.

Wisdom is better than all the wealth of this world. Jesus is more precious than silver, gold, or precious jewels. Nothing can be compared to finding Him who became Wisdom for us! (Proverbs 8:10-11, 18-19)

Will you share this good news with someone who needs Wisdom TODAY?

We preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness,

but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
