Jesus has become for us WISDOM!
As Jesus stood at the foot of the cliff at Caesarea Philippi, with his disciples, He asked them a question. “Who do you say that I am?” As th
ey looked up at the giant cliff, they recognized the evil that occurred there. It was known to them as the mouth of Hades, Sheol, Hell. It was a place human sacrifice, where babies were thrown into the mouth of the pit and where the god, Zeus, entered and left Hades.
Simon Peter answered Jesus question, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God,” but was very surprised by His answer.
And Jesus answered him, “You are blessed, Simon son of Jonah, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my Father in heaven! And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.” Oh, the words of WISDOM spoken by our Savior – words that lead us upward on the path of life.
